Direct marketing services provider strengthens senior management team
Transcontinental Direct, one of the country’s leading direct marketing service providers, has announced the appointments of Jay Garner to executive vice president of sales and marketing, and Rich Barbee to executive vice president of western operations. In addition, the company announced the promotion of Chris Carosella to executive vice president of eastern direct mail operations.
“These appointments underscore our commitment to advancing our leadership position in direct marketing,” said Transcontinental Direct President Rob Young. “We are confident these seasoned executives, with their collective experience and expertise in this industry, will drive the organization to the next level of performance and customer response. I am looking forward to working with each of them to build value for our customers, growth for our associates, and to continue the considerable momentum that the company has created in this dynamic market.”
In his new position, Jay Garner will have national revenue responsibility for the company’s U.S. direct mail and fulfillment operations. Garner rejoins Transcontinental Direct, where he was formerly executive vice president of sales and marketing with responsibility for the California operation. Prior to Transcontinental Direct, he held the same position with CC3, which was acquired by Transcontinental Inc. in 2004. Previously he was a principal of Pacific Communications Concepts, where he was instrumental in building the organization into one of the largest full-service direct mail production facilities in the western U.S. Garner also held a senior management position with Pacific Direct Mail Services. He is a former board member of the Direct Marketing Club of Southern California.
“I am extremely excited to return to Transcontinental Direct,” said Garner. “The growth in capabilities that the company has experienced within the last 18 months is tremendous. The refinement of systems along with the innovative use of technology has truly created an organization that provides excellent cost-effective solutions for our customers. Transcontinental Direct will continue to alter the competitive landscape not only by investing in technology, but also by expanding our capabilities to offer integrated solutions. These are exciting times in our industry, and I am thrilled to be part of the Transcontinental team.”
Rich Barbee will direct operations of the company’s manufacturing facilities in California and Texas. Barbee comes to Transcontinental Direct from Cenveo, where he was senior vice president of its central region with responsibility for its fulfillment and direct mail platforms, as well as a number of printing operations. Prior to Cenveo, he was president and CEO of KP Corporation, a major direct marketing services provider on the west coast. Barbee has also held senior management positions at Hart Graphics and R.R. Donnelley.
“I have found Transcontinental to be customer-focused, energized, innovative, and committed to its stated values,” said Barbee. “All of my career experiences seem to fit into the Transcontinental environment. I am excited about what we are about to do in the marketplace and proud to be a part of the growth.”
Chris Carosella is responsible for the company’s direct mail operations throughout Pennsylvania. Carosella brings nearly 20 years of experience in the industry to his position, which includes responsibility for two of the largest direct mail production operations in the U.S., located in Warminster and Hamburg, Pa. Carosella was formerly president of JDM, Inc., a leading direct mail production company, which was acquired by Transcontinental Direct in 2005. He played a key role in integrating the company’s direct mail platforms in Pennsylvania, establishing the most extensive operation of its kind in the eastern U.S. In addition, he will continue to be involved in strategic development of the company’s manufacturing operations.
“It’s a great experience working for a company as committed to its customers and employees as Transcontinental,” said Carosella. “The company’s focus on growth and investment will continue to provide opportunity for its associates and value for customers and shareholders.”
